The increasing mobility of health professionals and patients in Europe makes it vital that regulatory bodies, patients and the public are confident that all health professionals are fit and safe to practise.
FORE belongs to the Healthcare Professionals Crossing Borders network which brings together regulators (commonly referred to as 'competent authorities') and registering bodies to develop an agreement on how to share information about healthcare professionals moving across Europe. This is particularly challenging for professions, such as osteopathy, which is not widely regulated. More information about Healthcare Professionals Crossing Borders is available here.
Osteopathy is also included on the Internal Market Information (IMI) system. This is a European Commission database open to competent authorities only, to facilitate the exchange of information about professionals moving from one member state to another.
